Let's Talk Coasters!
Greetings, Jake D. Ramshop, spokesperson for BarMade here again, to talk about coasters!
Coasters come in a variety of shapes, sizes, materials, and themes, all performing two basic functions: first, and foremost, a coaster protects the surface that a beverage is placed on; and second, can be used for advertising or decoration.
So how did the coaster come about, you might ask? Well, according to my “wicked peedia research” coasters have been around since about the year 1760, originating out of Germany (Fact: 75% of the 5.5 billion coasters in the world are manufactured by a company in Germany and one in Canada, providing 97% of the coasters in the United States, and two thirds of Europe’s coasters.) Whew!
Why are they called coasters when they basically just sit on a surface with a beverage glass atop of them?
Well folks, that wasn’t always the case. Coasters got their name because originally, they were used to go under wine bottles and decanters so that they could be “coasted” across the table when the servants weren’t around to do it. No servants?!! How gauche!
Okay, enough history. Let’s talk present.
We already know the basic purpose of coasters, and the lion’s share of them provides the dual function of surface protection and advertising, most of which are relatively inexpensive, and disposable. They certainly serve a valid purpose.
Then there’s the specialty coasters – coasters that make a statement, or complement surrounding décor, or compatible with a theme. BarMade does all three with its rustic collection of whiskey and wine barrel coasters. For you connoisseurs of fine whiskey and wine (or your cheap stuff too), BarMade coasters make the perfect pairing with your favorite libation.
BarMade coasters are handmade from authentic whiskey and wine barrel staves and rings. Each is designed for specific function and aesthetically match a rustic décor. Our collection also accommodates those who enjoy a fine cigar with their selected beverage. Now a coaster may seem to be a simple thing, but to better appreciate the thought and care that goes into the production of BarMade coasters, the number of steps to build our coasters ranges from 15 for our simplest, to 26 for our most complex. The bottom of the indents for the glasses are covered in either felt, or cork (for those “on the rocks” drinks), to give the coasters a complete and polished look!
So, go ahead and check out our ever-expanding array of rustic coasters, found in the Miscellany section of our catalog. At a very affordable price, BarMade rustic coasters are the perfect addition to barware!
Once again, BarMade regularly adds new products, so please continue to check our website.
Well folks, it’s been great chatting with ya, and thanks for tuning in! “Til next time!
Cheers!
